******** News Bulletins ********

The 2008 Calendar of Events has been posted. We have an action packed year coming up! Also, the March 2008 newsletter has been posted online. You can view it from the News page or by clicking here. There are many exciting items in this newsletter. Linda Michaels will be our guest speaker at the 3/29 meeting. There's a flyer about this. There's information regarding the Northern Mecca trip in July. There is also a list of plants that will be distributed at the P4M meeting at Carol's house. This is truly an event packed year for us and this newsletter has so much info in it. Stay tuned for more daylily news!

I imagine that most of us are starting to get excited about spring and the upcoming daylily bloom season. Just today, I noticed the first daffodil blooms along my driveway. Yesterday, I finally set aside the time to plant a few daylily seeds. Deep down, I thought there was an outside chance that they might bloom today, but no such luck...
Of course, we still have months to wait until we see the first daylily blooms. To help you get by, there is a wonderful assortment of daylily speakers in Virginia almost every weekend during March. (Margo did a great job of listing these in the newsletter!). Our own club will cap the month off with a presentation by Linda Michaels, a "new and different" northern hybridizer. It will be our first meeting and speaker for the year, so be sure to come out to the meeting and publicize it among your gardening friends. We would love to have a large audience for Linda's presentation. Also, Linda will be bringing some plants to auction, so be sure to bring your checkbooks.
Our club has big plans for the coming year. We are hosting not one, but two speakers from outside the region (Thanks Carol and Margo!). We are continuing our "daylily outreach" program by hosting an exhibit at the mall. There are plans for club incorporation and a loosely organized trip to the Northern Mecca in July. This is in addition to the continued excellence demonstrated by Carol, Cindy, and Richard in selecting great plants for our PFM program. It all starts on March 29, so be sure to be there!
See you on the 29th.
