ChDC will be hosting John and Annette Rice as speakers for our Spring Speaker meeting.

The meeting will be held at Shepherd of the Hills Church Social Hall, Quinque, VA.  We will begin with our world-renowned Potluck Luncheon at 1pm, and the speaker meeting will commence at 2pom.  Come and enjoy hearing about the hybridization techniques of John and Annette Rice.  The club will host an auction immediately following the meeting, with several of John and Annette's cultivars available to bid on.

Set-up of plants at 12pm (please feel free to come and help with this chore and serve the club), Potluck will be at 1pm, Distribution beginning around 2pm.  (MEMBERS: Please review the requirements for club members to receive plants as part of this program.)

RADS (RICHMOND AREA DAYLILY SOCIETY) SPRING SHOW AND SALE.

LOCATION: Lewis Ginter Botanical Gardens.

RADS will have their spring daylily show and sale beginning at 9am at Lewis Ginter Botanical Gardens.  Daylilies will be available to purchase as well as a wonderful viewing of daylilies presented in the show after judging is complete, typically around 10am.

REGION 3 DAYLILY CONVENTION, hosted by BRADS (BLUE RIDGE AREA DAYLILY SOCIETY)

LOCATION: Roanoke, VA

The annual Region 3 Daylily Convention will be hosted by the Blue Ridge Area Daylily Society this weekend.  Bus tours of several area gardens, lots of activiites, two banquets, a botique and an auction will round out this wonderufl weekend.

LUNCH PLANS: THE MAIN DISH AND DRINKS FOR A picnic potluck lunch will be provided.  PLEASE Bring something that will keep in a cooler in your vehicle while we tour the morning gardens.  ALSO, PLEASE BRING A LAWN CHAIR FORYOUR COMFORT WHILE EATING LUNCH. THANKS.

NOTE:  Carol's Daylily Gardens, the home of Carol Sarginger, will be open during the week previous to the garden tours for anyone that would like to stop by, 9am - 4pm each day.

Wed July 11 - 14 (Sat)

The National Daylily Convention is scheduled for July 11-14, 2012 in Columbus, Ohio.

The Metropolitan Columbus Daylily Society will be hosting the convention, and invite all to "Discover Columbus' Passion for Daylilies" - visiting eight specatacular daylily tour gardens and experiencing their Midwestern hospitality.

Be ready for a fun, action-packed few days, iwth bus tours, banquets, exhibition judge clinics, garden judge workshops, a science symposium, etc.  Bid on fantastic gifts and new daylily cultivars at the raffle and plant auction.  Discover garden "must-haves" from the botique.

5th Annual Club Picnic will be held on Sunday, August 19, 2012 beginning at 1:00pm.

LOCATION: Carol and Dave Sarginger's home.  Please email csarginger@embarqmail.com for directions and additional informaition about the picnic.

NOTE: The main dish and drinks will be provided, please bring a side dish or dessert to share.  

We also usually have great plant give-aways here as well, so bring things to share in the great trades and freebees to be had!  It's a great way to end the summer visiting with friends, recalling all the fun times we've had this summer going new places and seeing new daylilies and things we haven't seen before.

PLANTS FOR MEMBERS AUCTION AND PLANT SALE

LOCATION: Shepherd of the Hills Social Hall, Ruckersville, VA

time:  12:00PM.  Members are encouraged to bring their club plants and plants that they are donating for the auction in for recording requirements between 12:00pm and 12:30pm in order to get everything organized and make sure that all is ready and in proper order for the auction.  Pot luck lunch starts at 1PM (bring your favorite dish to share!) The auction will beginn around 2pm, give or take.  

EVERYONE IS WELCOME, you don't have to be a CLUB MEMBER.  Even if you are a guest, you can also bring plants to donate for the auction!  We'd love to have you.  Come and see what it's like to be in our club!

LILYHEMMER!!

October 20-21 is the Region 3 Fall Meeting (actually 18th Fall Festival) held in Camp Hill, near Harrisburg, PA. It is a fun fall weekend getaway with a full daylily program, including speakers, meals, games, auctions, and hospitality.  Finish the season with a bang!

FALL SPEAKER MEETING: Come to see pictures of beautiful, cutting edge daylilies!  Have a speaker tell you about his/her hybridizing program, and maybe a bit about how the garden grows.  We have yet to finalize the speaker at this time, but will update the web and let you know as soon as we get final details.

2013 Planning meeting - this is where we plan the events for next year!!  Come and join in the fun of making the plans for next year.

ANNUAL ChDC HOLIDAY PARTY!!

LOCATION:  Margo Reed/Jim Murphy's Please email murphy@cstone.net for directions and additional information if needed. 

Potluck at 1pm.  Bring your favorite holiday dish to share.   Ham and beverages will be provided by the club.  Don't forget the Chinese auction; bring a $10-15 gift for each family member that wants to participate.
